I fell a little behind on blogging with all the craziness of my recent trip to Cuba (which I will share lots of photos and video from very soon), so I am playing catch up. April has arrived, and that means it is getting hotter and I am back on the night shift shooting lots (and lots) of sports.. Which I am totally ok with because I get to play in golden Florida evening light and I get to work on improving my sports photos. Hooray April!
Everything about this day was incredible – the country music, camouflage clothing, so much barbecue and beer, racing enthusiasm, all the mud – It’s safe to say that I went in to complete sensory overload very quickly.
Naples beach at dusk on a cloudy day with a new friend.
A couple weeks ago I got to spend time with Roger Jacobsen. He works many jobs for the city of Naples including code enforcement manager and harbormaster. He also has an incredibly fascinating past - I could listen to him tell stories all day.. But what stands out most about Roger is his huge, loving heart. He spends the small amount of free time that he has coaching Special Olympics basketball.
The love that he has for his team is obvious after about 5 seconds of watching them interact (not to mention the admiration and adoration that his players clearly feel for him).
People like Roger and the players that make up the Collier County Eagles make the world a little brighter.
These are some of my favorite photos from my time with Roger and the Collier County Eagles, and here are the beautiful words that reporter Joey Cranney wrote about this super rad guy.
Sometimes when I’m not working I like to take photos of sweet friends that are in love and getting married.
