A group of about 50 marched in the streets of downtown Naples yesterday.
U.S. Marine Cpl. Hank Markovich, 90, served on the island of Okinawa during World War II and spent 27 months recovering after being severely wounded. He was awarded a Purple Heart and still has his uniform.
Answai Bennett survived last week’s attack at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando. He was shot twice in his leg and has to learn to walk again. Bennett is currently staying with his mother, Latrecia Weir, in her Naples home and is surrounded by his family. We will continue to follow Answai and his family during their journey through healing.

America Gutierrez is a freshman at Florida Southwestern State College and won this year’s Boys and Girls Club of Collier County’s Youth of the Year Award. Her family moved here from Bolivia when Gutierrez was 2 years old.
